De souche

As immigration becomes more central than ever in political discourses, De souche offers a dizzying deep dive into the far-reaching tentacles of the “Great Replacement” conspiracy theory, which is gaining popularity across the Western world. In this illuminating documentary, journalist and filmmaker Simon Coutu travels across Québec and France, meeting a range of people who subscribe to or specialize in the subject. He examines the origins of this rhetoric, its harmful consequences, and its ties to the far right and white supremacist movements. A hard-hitting documentary that offers an essential critical perspective.
