Julián Lara (Seville, 1975). He graduated with honors as a film director and screenwriter from The Los Angeles Film School in 2011. He began his career as a self-taught filmmaker in 2002 with his award-winning short film “Evil Night.” His filmography is best known for his celebrated cult series about the Deadhunters, an elite force dedicated to killing zombies and other supernatural beings. It all began in 2003 with his film “Deadhunter: Sevillian Zombies,” which has become a cult classic acclaimed by fans worldwide to this day. Currently, the Deadhunter series is a trilogy in the process of becoming a double trilogy and also features a prequel in comic book form titled “Deadhunter: The Comic Book.” In 2006, Julián wrote his first book, titled *Directed By: How to Be a Film Director and Not Die Trying*, published in Spain and throughout South America, in which he recounted his early days in the film industry. In 2015, he wrote his second, highly successful book, *Welcome to Hollywood*, in which he recounted his trials and tribulations during his early years in Los Angeles. This book, *American Dream*, is a continuation of Julián Lara’s adventures and misadventures in the wonderful yet complicated world of Hollywood cinema, where he chronicles his epic journey toward fulfilling his American Dream. Julián Lara has enjoyed great success on the festival circuit with his films, competing at festivals around the world—including major ones such as Fantasia in Canada—and even winning a handful of awards over the years. Some of Julián Lara’s works have caught the attention of masters of fantasy and horror cinema, such as George Romero and Guillermo del Toro, who have had kind words to say about Julián’s work as a director and writer.
